The Perils Of Dominance. Empty The Perils Of Dominance.

Post  Thomas Donovan Mon Jun 10, 2013 12:25 pm

{{The following takes place within the confines of an abandoned underground subway in London. Hence why the scenery is so quiet and almost gothic like in its appearance. In fact, only one man can be made out in the shadows; that one man being none other than Thomas Donovan. He is attired in a black leather biker-style jacket, with torn and tattered jeans as well as black leather cowboy style boots; he seems to be in a relaxed frame of mind, as a smirk crosses his face.}}

"Dominance is a strange thing. You can have it over the course of a few weeks, yet then drop off into nothingness and obscurity when opponents finally figure you out, or you can sustain it and become almost unstoppable in a sense. Yet the problem is, neither one of those outcomes is desirable."

{{Thomas allows his smirk to slightly grow, revealing the complex nature of what he is currently trying to teach the audience that will be watching this promo.}}

"See, no one wants to be known as the kind of person that only had their dominance due to not enough people knowing about them at first, before being found out once people figured out your weaknesses and strengths, using them against you. Yet if you sustain said dominance; thus becoming unstoppable, you corrupt yourself. You become no better than those who come out and saturate themselves in self-obsessive thought processes."

{{Pausing, he begins to walk, as the sound of his feet pounding against the concrete surface of the subway begins to echo around the setting.}}

"How is this possible? It's actually a simple concept to understand, yet at the same time: very few people seem to actually be able to comprehend it. If you were to actually believe you were unstoppable, then it's a sign that you have allowed your ego to control you. To feed you this belief, no matter how incorrect said belief might actually be.

Sure, you might prove it in the ring, thus making it "right", but who's to say that no one will eventually figure out; devise a strategy that manages to end your reign of dominance? What do you do then? That's the problem: you have allowed yourself to become so consumed with the false belief of being unstoppable...you haven't planned anything for when the time comes, that you DO ultimately lose."

{{Stopping, he calmly smiles. He knows fully, that there will be people that fail to grasp what he is saying, yet it adds an extra layer to what is already a complex mind.}}

"How does that make you better than the ego's you claim to hate? Simply put: it doesn't. In fact, denying you have an ego; then having this belief anyway, makes you WORSE than those who admit they have an ego, yet refuse to do anything about it."

{{Re-starting his walk, one can easily feel the tension that is rising from each of Donovan's words.}}

"No one is unstoppable, regardless of what they wish to believe."

{{The scene ends, with Donovan continuing to walk along the subway's concrete sidewalk.}}
